“Fruit” – Watercolor, colored pencil and marker for the bg

Idea/concept: (Just like in nature; and fruit), the human body decomposes quicker than you’d expect. I also liked the idea each organ in the abdomen was a different fruit picked off of shape and how similar they looked to the actual organ in your body. Another interpretation I had when drawing was a form of sexual desire – being “fruitful” is to be young and desirable, and to be “past your prime” is no longer seductive or otherwise considered feminine. Organs in women’s bodies usually nurse and create children they give birth too, just as seeds in fruit create other plants that create other fruits as well.

Multi Media (watercolor, oil pastel, colored pencil detailing) –

This was for a 2024 class assignment. The only requirements were a side profile drawn with oil pastel, and background out of watercolor or other water based paints. Main purpose of the painting was to focus on proportions of a side profile. My main inspirations were Greek architecture sketches and culture combined with old style paintings depicting translucent fabric and painted flowers.
